The World’s 25 Largest Lakes

TIL: The Caspian Sea is technically a lake. It’s the largest enclosed inland body of water on Earth.
Even though it's called a "sea," it's not connected to the world’s oceans. Even though it’s landlocked, it contains salty water.
🤔 Why is the Caspian Sea salty?
Because, millions of years ago, it used to be an ocean itself — the Tethys Ocean. When the ocean receded and land masses shifted, it left behind some inland seas — the Caspian being the biggest. So it started out salty.
And while rivers like the Volga flow in, bringing freshwater, nothing flows out. The only way water leaves is by evaporation, and when water evaporates, it leaves salt behind. Over thousands of years, that builds up salinity.

🎶 Banger of the Day
Pretty sure I pulled this from from an old Gaslamp Killer mixtape. Shocking Blue has a bunch of good songs. Def worth checking them out.
SIDE NOTE: On Instagram, we pair each post with a song that bangs. A lot of people don’t know that we have a comprehensive Spotify playlist with every song we ever played. Click here to check it out. 🎶
